Infectious disease activity during the COVID-19 epidemic in Japan: Lessons learned from prevention and control measures

In Japan, the Law Concerning Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Medical Care for Patients with (the "Infectious Control Law") classifies infectious diseases as category I-V diseases, pandemic influenza, designated based on their infectivity, severity, impact public health. COVID-19 was a disease February 1, 2020 then classified under influenza 13, 2021. According to national reports from sentinel surveillance, some transmitted by droplets, contact, or orally declined during epidemic in Japan. As week 22 (June 6, 2021), there were 704 cumulative cases seasonal 8,144 chickenpox, 356 mycoplasma pneumonia, 45 rotavirus gastroenteritis; these numbers significantly lower than those last year, 563,487 31,785 3,518 250 gastroenteritis. Similarly, many droplets contact other countries areas pandemic. One can reasonably assume that various measures adopted control transmission have played role reducing spread especially contact. Extensive thorough implementation personal protective behavioral changes may serve valuable reference when identifying ways reduce future.
